How Life at Agoda has changed in 2022

We’ve got a new CEO!

 Omri Morgenshtern became Agoda’s CEO this year, alongside some changes in our leadership team. With this, we’ve also updated our values: Do things the right way; Move fast and be efficient; Be a scientist, experiment and measure; Take ownership and make a difference; Be direct and respectful.

A Better Workplace Experience

A milestone that has changed our workplace experience – we’re back in the office with a hybrid work model, with the flexibility for each team to decide which two days will be in-office. Plus, the Remote Work program was introduced, allowing us to work from anywhere for up to 30 days. Whether you want to visit your family for a longer period or simply want a change of scenery, this program is the answer.

A Stronger Role in the Tech Community

In 2022, we’ve ramped up our efforts to foster the tech community both within Agoda and outside of the company. We had over 14,000 coders join this year’s Codegoda from 60+ countries around the world, hosted more internal and external tech talks, and sponsored community meetups for Kafka, Rust and more.

A Growth of Our Learning

On and outside of the job, Agodans never stop learning. This year we’ve introduced new learning programs and platforms and also migrated to a new learning management system, making our learning experience more seamless. With an addition of LinkedIn Learning and Odilo subscriptions to the existing plans on Udemy for Business and O’ReilyAgodans now have even more options to learn at their own pace. We’ve also launched aGROWda, our first global learning event, where our leaders shared their journeys and learnings on different topics over three days.

Being Back at Campuses, and more

Our team is back on the ground on campuses and at job fairs. Students see us at their universities not only for recruitment but also for different knowledge sharing sessions. With the aim of helping to prepare students as they enter the job market, we also organized an Open House and hands-on workshops, and hosted the biggest batch of interns ever! (Stay tuned as we’ll start accepting applications for 2023 internships soon!)

Expanding Our Volunteering Initiatives

Together, 1,291 Agodans have put together 10,242 volunteer hours this year for 72 projects, including our new community-based tourism program. Launched this year in Thailand, the program brought Agoda Volunteers to help local businesses and communities in Talad Noi (Bangkok), Bang Kobua (Samut Prakan) and Ban Laem (Suphan Buri) and won us the CSR Excellence Award from the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand.

Celebrating Agodans

With us reuniting in the office after a long while, more in-person engagement activities naturally happened, especially in the second half of the year. Our People team ensures each month is filled with bonding opportunities and fun reasons to come to the office. Some notable events are our in-person town halls and local office visits. We’ve also come up with new, creative ways to celebrate Agodans, including launching Your Best Journey, an ice cream flavor inspired by Life at Agoda, and the #AgodaCelebratingYou online and offline campaign.
