In July, we celebrated new brand campaigns, picked up new learnings, and prioritized team wellness and giving back.
Having fun on National Intern Day
We had an incredible time celebrating National Intern Day with our 126 amazing summer interns. In keeping with our Agoda culture, it was all about honoring our achievements and sharing what we’ve learned.
Former interns who are now full-time Agodans hosted a panel to share their experiences and tips for navigating the intern conversion process. Special awards and certificates were given to recognize the outstanding contributions of our interns as their program comes to an end, and the fun continued with a quiz and scavenger hunt on our newest office floor.
Celebrating Agoda’s new India and Japan ads
We celebrated the launch of Agoda’s new brand campaigns featuring Bananaman and Ayushmann Khurrana. To mark the occasion, our Bangkok office hosted themed pop-ups, complete with interactive photo booths and a delicious spread of Japanese and Indian snacks. Along with the pop-ups, our new Instagram filters allow everyone to explore the world just like our brand ambassadors, no matter where they are.
Enjoying some friendly competition
As part of our long-standing Agoda Quiz Night tradition, July’s event saw 35 teams going head-to-head under the theme of Sports and Champions. With categories like Brands & Logos, Art & Science, Music, and Travel & Living, the quiz truly put everyone’s knowledge to the test.
Giving back as a team
July saw us volunteering across the world! In Malaysia, Agoda volunteers joined WWF Malaysia at Kuala Selangor Nature Park, planting 200 mangrove trees to support forest preservation. Another group in Kuala Lumpur teamed up with the Free Tree Society to learn about sustainable practices and plant 30 trees. In Japan, our team spent the day in Miura, helping local farmers plant cherry tomato seeds and harvest eggplants and squash.
Our summer interns also got involved, teaming up with TerraCycle Thailand to clean up the Ladprao Canal. Thanks to their hard work, we prevented 2,990 kilograms of trash from reaching the Gulf of Thailand, setting a record for the highest trash collection in a single TerraCycle volunteer program to date!
Getting empowered through learning
The Women@Agoda Employee Resource Group recently collaborated with Udemy to offer a workshop titled “Breaking Career-Limiting Beliefs.” Led by Gail Matthey, a seasoned learning and development specialist who leads Udemy’s APAC Enterprise Customer Success team, the session focused on identifying and overcoming the twelve habits that can hinder career growth.
Promoting wellness
Our top priority is the well-being of our team, especially during flu season. We hosted in-office vaccination sessions in our Thailand and Malaysia offices to ensure everyone stays healthy and protected.
