What Life in Bangkok is Like for Agoda’s Tech Team

From finding community and raising a family to staying active and exploring Asia, Bangkok offers Agoda’s tech team a vibrant, comfortable place to call home. Five Agodans share how the city has shaped their lives.

A city that helped me become more confident

“I moved to Bangkok alone without knowing anyone, and at first I was worried about how I would adjust. But the city is welcoming, the people are kind and there is always something to do. I now enjoy solo café dates, exploring new neighborhoods and taking day trips on weekends. Living here has helped me become more independent, outgoing and confident, both personally and professionally.” Shruti Gogia, originally from India (Read Shruti’s story)

A major lifestyle upgrade for my family

“Bangkok gives my family the amenities of a world-class city while letting us decide how much we want to spend. We have excellent healthcare, a great international school for our daughter and a home twice the size of our previous apartment. Having household help also gives us more time together. Our overall expenses are similar to what they were in Israel, but our quality of life has improved dramatically.” Shlomi Green, originally from Israel (Read Shlomi’s story)

Safety, fitness and weekends by the sea

“I love Bangkok’s food, year-round warmth and affordability, but what I value most is how safe the city feels. During the week, I go climbing, cycle, work out and explore parks or night markets. On weekends, I often head to the seaside. Koh Chang is a favorite destination because its beaches and peaceful atmosphere offer a complete change of pace from the city.” Marcel Paduch, originally from Poland (Read Marcel’s story)

A home for creative communities

What I love most about Bangkok is the way tradition and modernity coexist. I can leave a meeting and find myself at a street market, temple or rooftop overlooking the city. Outside work, I explore the food and art scenes and spend time in cafés and bookstores. Running a literary book club and journal project has also helped me connect with Bangkok’s creative community and develop a deeper sense of belonging. Sunshine, green spaces and nearby beaches

“Bangkok gives me the warm climate, sunshine and delicious food I love, but I’m never far from nature. The city has many parks and green spaces, while beaches are only a few hours away. In my free time, I explore temples and historical sites, hike in national parks or travel to the coast. It’s an ideal base for combining city life with outdoor adventures around Thailand.” Maurice Heine, originally from Germany (Read Maurice’s story)
