The Opportunity

We are seeking a confident, curious and self-motivated lawyer to join our growing Legal team in Bangkok. You will play a crucial role in providing legal review and guidance on new and existing product offerings and platform features, supporting both Agoda and its adjacent business unit, RTA. You should possess a deep understanding of digital and e-commerce platform regulations, consumer protection law and technology-related law, and basic understanding of intellectual property law and privacy regulations.

You will be part of a dynamic group that constantly seeks opportunities to innovate and challenge the status quo. You must have strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to develop scalable, pragmatic solutions that align with commercial and strategic objectives.

  • We welcome applications from both local and international candidates for this role. The position is based in Bangkok, and Agoda offers relocation support for successful candidate. Please note that remote work or working from locations outside of Bangkok is not available for this role.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Product and Feature Review: Conduct legal assessments of new and existing product offerings and features, delivering concise, actionable and business-friendly advice to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Policy Development and Maintenance: Update and maintain the company’s Terms of Use, policies, and other legal documents to align with evolving laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Support product managers, engineers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to understand product visions and offer legal insights from ideation through deployment in close collaboration with other subject matter experts such as tax, finance and specialist counsels within the legal team.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Proactively monitor and analyze changes in e-commerce and technology laws and regulations, advise on product strategy and lead regulatory change management projects.
  • Legal Support: Offer general legal support related to product development, including drafting and negotiating agreements with partners and vendors, as well as product-related terms and condition

The person appointed will be:

  • A highly motivated technology lawyer who is able to understand complex products, ideally with knowledge of law in the travel sector and/or a passion for travel.
  • Proactive and practical, adding value by creating pragmatic and strategic solutions to legal issues.
  •  A team player with strong ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels and across cultures.

The successful applicant will have:

  • 5 to 8 years of post-qualification experience, ideally a mix of international in-house and reputable law firm experience. Experience in common law jurisdictions is a plus.
  • Law Degree/Juris Doctor.
  • Strong commercial outlook and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Good knowledge of consumer protection law and technology-related regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong sense of ownership, and enthusiasm for technology.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations and perform well under pressure in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Experience in risk management and the ability to approach problems with a practical and strategic mindset
