As June comes to a close, let’s revisit our favorite moments from our Pride Month celebrations, led by the Agoda Pride community.
Agoda Pride is an official Employee Resource Group (ERG) led by a dedicated team of volunteers committed to community-building and advocacy. The group’s vision is to create a safe, welcoming environment where LGBTQIA+ employees and allies can thrive and bring their authentic selves to work.
This month, the ERG hosted a full roster of events for us to come together and celebrate love. Read on to see what we got up to!
Marching together at Bangkok Pride
To kick off Pride Month, Agoda sponsored the Bangkok Pride parade, marching as the official Online Travel Partner. Hundreds of Agodans, including our CEO Omri Morgenshtern, leadership team, ERG members, and allies, joined the parade to show our support.
“We help bridge the world for everyone. That means everyone. We want everyone to be included, and we want everyone to be proud. And it’s great that Thailand is such a leader in this field,” shares Omri.
Hosting a Rainbow Forum
Our first-ever Agoda Pride Town Hall session, the Rainbow Forum, allowed Agodans to learn more about the ERG’s mission, resources, and upcoming initiatives. This hybrid event also celebrated the ERG’s achievements, like changing the approval process for flexible employee benefits to give Agodans greater privacy and control over their healthcare information.
Learning about queer acceptance in Thailand
We hosted Chayanut (Poomii), a guest speaker with a background in women’s studies, gender rights, and activism, for an insightful talk on the media’s impact on queer acceptance in Thailand. This online session highlighted the role of media in shaping societal attitudes toward the LGBTQ+ community, fostering a deeper understanding, and encouraging more inclusive narratives.
Bringing colors and Pride to our office
Throughout June, our Bangkok office came alive with rainbow crossings and special Pride-themed photo corners. This vibrant setup encouraged employees to capture and share their Pride spirit all month long, serving as a joyful visual reminder of our commitment to inclusivity.
Hosting our first-ever Agoda Drag Bingo Night
To close things off, we enjoyed dinner and a Drag Bingo Night, featuring the fabulous Meanie Minaj from Drag Race Thailand Season 1. With plenty of laughter, live performances, and friendly competition, it was a chance for our community to have fun, meet new people, and reflect on another great Pride Month.
Looking ahead
Pride is not confined to a single month; it is a continuous celebration of love, equality, and authenticity. Though we’re proud of our strides in fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace at Agoda, we also know that our work is far from done. As our community grows, we’re excited about the continued impact and advocacy of the Agoda Pride ERG.
