Agoda’s Global Affairs Team works on key projects to advance the organization’s critical goals on legislative and policy work, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability. Our projects guarantee Agoda continues to play a positive role in leading the industry towards the future, where sustainable travel is the norm and where customers can travel more freely. Working with Global Affairs will offer the opportunity to network, learn, and gain valuable skills at the intersection of government affairs, sustainability, and technology. You will work on aligning Agoda’s strengths with priorities of governments to make real positive change around the world. Through these high-priority and innovative projects you will impact the business and the communities we operate in on a global scale.
This position is open to both local and international candidates with relocation support available for eligible candidates to help ensure a smooth transition to working and living in Bangkok. Given the COVID-19 landscape and travel restrictions, relocation date is flexible and a remote start may be possible.
We're looking for an incredible storyteller and communicator who can understand complex issues and explain them in easily digestible formats (graphic, digital, written, in-person).
The Global Affairs Strategic Communications Lead, under Agoda’s Global Affairs team, ensures key stakeholders and employees are kept informed and motivated about Agoda’s positive economic and social impact across the world.
You will inform and educate governments, partners, opinion leaders and customers -- and our own employees -- about the benefits of Agoda’s business model, its ability to help drive incredible economic benefit to the tourism sector, highlight unique destinations, and empower small and medium enterprise tourism businesses, as well as our approach to the big public policy and sustainability issues.
This is an era-defining moment for Agoda. We are pushing new goals and moonshots as we rise from the challenges of Covid-19, from supporting a café that helps people with disabilities, crafting campaigns to drive tourism demand back to the economies that need it most, pushing for sustainability across industry and governments, and motivating thousands of staff around the world to give back to communities - connecting their world with global affairs. We are looking for a creative narrator to drive that message at scale.
In This Role, You'll Get To
- Design, create, and launch narratives to help position Agoda positively amongst multiple stakeholders.
- Co-lead the process of creative development, stakeholder briefings, and activation roll-out for targeted Global Affairs campaigns and related business objectives.
- Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums (internal and external), such as staff intranet, monthly magazines or regular email bulletins.
- Develop and ideate rich media content (with support from other departments)
- Gather, analyze and report industry analytics to support advocacy activities for Agoda stakeholders
- Ensure communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization and stakeholders including governments and state-owned enterprises.
- A part of this role which is also internal-facing: plan and drive the strategic execution of senior leadership meetings, such as company town halls, strategic offsites, etc.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Storytelling skills: excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source data and stories from employees. A sharp visual sensibility. Desired, but not required: graphic design skills.
Global Affairs skills: a keen understanding of Asia-Pacific politics and economics, sustainability issues, including preferably the digital technology and travel & tourism sectors.
Interpersonal skills: good interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work with key stakeholders in and out of the organization; possess the confidence to deal with senior executives and explain communication techniques to them.
