The Opportunity:

The Compliance & Ethics Counsel supports execution of corporate compliance standards, processes, and procedures at the direction of the Compliance & Ethics Officer. The Compliance & Ethics Counsel will support all facets of the Compliance & Ethics Program including: ensuring adherence with our parent company, Booking Holdings Inc.’s Compliance & Ethics Standards and KPIs, managing the release of online and in-person ethics training programs, administering the company’s Ethics Ambassador program, managing the conflict of interest & gift disclosure process, supporting investigations through strategic input and gathering evidence as needed, and assisting in the maintenance of compliance & ethics policies.

In this Role, you’ll get to: 

  • Manage implementation of Booking Holding Inc.’s Compliance & Ethics program to meet KPIs, as well as monitor and address compliance program gaps;
  • Support Booking Holding Inc.’s Compliance function through developing structures to evidence compliance with required program standards and 20+ associated KPIs;
  • Coordinate the annual compliance risk assessment at the direction of the Compliance & Ethics Officer;
  • Oversee the launch of Code of Conduct training in a timely manner in accordance with Booking Holding Inc.’s online training plan;
  • Lead implementation of GRC tool;
  • Support compliance & ethics communications campaigns on relevant topics or initiatives;
  • Maintain awareness regarding, and collaborate to improve the company’s Global Third Party Risk Management initiative, systems and processes;
  • Manage the back-end of the company’s EthicsPoint Helpline & Case Management System;
  • Assist in the administration of the conflict of interest disclosure process and gifts & entertainment disclosure process, ensuring proper follow-up to any disclosures and implementation of measures to address actual and/or potential conflicts;
  • Coordinate, analyze and document trends in compliance activity and other relevant data to effectively initiate mitigation plan to prevent future impact on the company;
  • Conduct compliance investigations where necessary, including evidence collection, coordinating complex investigations and P2P interview;
  • Additional project and ad hoc work as necessary to support the compliance & ethics function and mature the program;

What you’ll Need to Succeed:

  • 3+ years experience working in the compliance and ethics environment in a corporate setting is required.
  • Familiarity with APAC and global regulatory requirements in the areas including but not limited to anti-bribery & corruption, third party risk management and human rights compliance as well as ethics in product design is strongly desirable.
  • College/Bachelor’s Degree (4 year) and JD required. Laws degree, CPA, MBA or other relevant Masters degree a plus.
  • Candidate must possess the highest integrity, commensurate with a compliance & ethics position.
  • Job responsibilities will require that this individual have presence, communication skills, writing skills, diplomacy, and credibility necessary to effectively influence company employees and managers.
  • Must possess strong project management skills.
  • Works well under pressure with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate without extensive supervision and act as a self-starter.
  • Creative problem solver who possesses sound business judgement and is very detail oriented.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.

It’s Great if you have:

  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional credentials (and required within 18 months of appointment to position). 
  • Foreign language skills considered a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to integrate and balance priorities, work activities and resources for the benefit of multiple key stakeholders.

  • Team Player: This person collaborates and supports colleagues and peers across the organization, with the ability to be effective in a dynamic, evolving environment.
