Working with Global Affairs will offer the opportunity to network, learn, and gain valuable skills at the intersection of government affairs, sustainability, and technology. You will work on aligning Agoda’s strengths with priorities of governments to make real positive change around the world. This position is open to both local and international candidates with relocation support available for eligible candidates to help ensure a smooth transition to working and living in Bangkok. Given the COVID-19 landscape and travel restrictions, relocation date is flexible and a remote start may be possible. 


The Opportunity:

Agoda seeks a self-motivated, dynamic Manager of Global Government Affairs who can map, navigate and design strategies to influence regulatory and policy environments in tourism/hospitality, e-commerce, data, tax, and fintech, in Asia and across the globe.    

The Manager will collaborate with the Director of Global Government Affairs and team as well as Agoda’s CSR/sustainability, public relations, and legal teams, and extensive business units across the region. They will engage government and other stakeholders to shape and implement effective policies. 

The Manager will be based in Bangkok with a focus on Asia, but with global responsibilities.  The successful candidate must have experience collaborating with government and industry stakeholders to implement policy outcomes that deliver business results.  Equally important, the Manager must have passion, EQ, energy, and vision. Since this is a new department within Agoda, an entrepreneurial attitude is required to conceive, build, and manage the framework, metrics, communication tools, and playbooks for this integral team. 

The Manager will be responsible for developing communications and knowledge-sharing tools for engaging government officials, and designing and executing a program for delivering these materials. 

The Manager must be self-driven and results-oriented, taking the lead on a wide-range of tasks and projects. The role requires a nimble, culturally sensitive and professional attitude. Impeccable integrity essential. What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in government, government affairs, public affairs, policy or related field – ideally with experience in technology / e-commerce / travel sectors. 
  • Experience of designing and implementing government affairs strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders 
  • Strong partner and stakeholder management skills, both with building new relationships and growing existing relationships 
  • Experience of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Highly organized and able to drive forward multiple projects at the same time 
  • Strong leadership skills, and ability to take the lead engaging with government officials, legislators, and key opinion leaders 
  • Deliver KPIs aligned with company priorities 
  • Low ego and collaborative mindset for the flat, open structures at Agoda 
  • Bachelor’s degree from top university in any country; advanced degree preferred 
  • Impeccable verbal, written, data presentation, and interpersonal communication skills; native-level English, both spoken and written. A secondary regional language skill is considered an asset 
  • Willingness to travel 


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • East Asia (Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan) experience and networks welcomed, but not essential. 
  • Business development skills, government sales, and/or strategic partnership development skills and experience 
  • Experience developing thought leadership and knowledge-sharing communications tools
